The Dell Diamond is the home of the Round Rock Express, the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The stadium has continually been considered one of the nicest venues in the country over it’s eleven year history. It has received countless accolades, including being named the "Best Double-A Ballpark in the Country" by Baseball America magazine in 2003, listed on Baseball America's 2005 "Great Parks Calendar" and ESPN's "Great Baseball Destinations" map, was voted “North American Venue of the Year” by Minor League News (2006 and 2007), and was recently named one of USA Today’s “10 Best Places for a Baseball Pilgrimage.” The stadium, operated year-round by Ryan Sanders Baseball, received it’s name from partnership signed with the Dell Computer Corporation, who’s headquarters are less than five miles from the ballpark. Although baseball is the primary tennent of the facility, The Dell Diamond has also hosted several other high profile events over it’s life. From concerts (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp to name a few), to movies (The Rookie), to television (The Simple Life) and even radio (Jim Rome World Tour), the stadium has been home to all types of entertainment. The Dell Diamond features numerous amenities all designed for the ultimate in fan comfort and enjoyment. The seating capacity of The Dell Diamond is 8,722 fixed seats with room for more than 3,000 more on the grass berm beyond the outfield wall that spreads from foul pole to foul pole. Crowds at The Dell Diamond have swelled to more than 11,000 on more than 50 occasions, including a record crowd of 13,475 on June 16, 2006 when Houston Astros pitcher Roger Clemens appeared at The Dell Diamond. The ballpark was designed to be as "fan friendly" as possible and includes 75 seats in handicap areas located throughout the ballpark, along with special lawn-chair seating under the left field deck. There are several restrooms throughout the facility - five each for men and women, all equipped with handicap access. In 2007, the club added an extra gate for fans to enter the stadium from the parking lot in the northeast corner of the complex. The elevator for access to the suite level and press level is located on the far end of the first base concourse or at the Intel Club tower next to homeplate. There are also four public stairways. There is more than adequate parking with on-site space for more than 5,000 vehicles. Directly behind centerfield is a kid’s play area, which includes a "Sport Court" basketball court where fans can show off their jump shot, and a 26-foot high simulated "rock wall" on which fans can test their climbing skills. The scoreboard at The Dell Diamond features a full-color LED video screen measuring 16-feet high by 21-feet wide with complete graphics and video capability. In 2008, a Daktronics Pro Star display measuring 9 feet by 52 feet was installed to replace the existing line score. The newest LED addition features full video capabilities, along with a new speed pitch and clock display. The entire scoreboard structure measures 37-feet high by 56-feet wide. The Dell Diamond sound system is specifically designed to offer extreme clarity to all areas of the facility and features the latest in audio equipment to compliment the state-of-the art video scoreboard.
