'Ember' to open for Live in the Ballpark LIVE IN THE BALLPARK officials have announced today that the Austin-based band, "Ember" has won the "Operation Starving Artist" contest and will open Saturday's music festival that includes Tonic, Collective Soul, Five For Fighting, Gin Blossoms and Green River Ordinance. Ember, named Austin Music Examiner's Band of 2009, has toured in the US with the likes of Blue October, Avenged Sevenfold, Halestorm, Theory of a Deadman, and most recently, completed a European tour with rock sensation, Hinder. Currently, the band has been touring extensively to promote their newest album, "Embrace," with their hit single, "The Deep End," reaching #63 on Billboard’s Hot 100, and #10 on New Music Weekly’s Top 40. "All the guys in Ember are so excited and humbled for the opportunity to share the stage with so many of our musical influences," lead vocalist Chris Martinez said. "Thank you to all the fans that showed support by purchasing a ticket." "We're very excited to have some local flavor on display at the event," said J.J. Live in the Ballpark kicks-off tonight at The Dell Diamond with a charity event benefiting the City of Hope. Tailgating for Saturday's events will start at 11:00 a.m. in The Dell Diamond parking lot and will include a "Build a Better Burger" contest presented by Sutter Home. Gates for the night's festivities will open at 2:30 p.m. with Ember taking the stage at 3:45 p.m. to be followed by Tonic, Collective Soul, Five For Fighting, Gin Blossoms and Green River Ordinance.
